Folkwear Sewing PatternĀ #140
Misses' Flamenco Dress and Practice Skirt
Sizes X-Small, Small, Medium, Large andĀ X-Large
Pattern condition: Uncut and factory folded
A sensational fashion with the right touch of drama for traditional flamenco dancing, bolero ballroom dancing, or contemporary salsa. Four lavish flounces on the dress provide plenty of material for flashy skirt moves, while three flounces on the skirt allow for serious flamenco or bolero practice, and just one flounce ignites a young and saucy dance step.
The dress features princess seams for a semi-fitted silhouette; the princess seams start from the shoulders rather than the armholes, to facilitate arm movement. Flounced cap sleeves, V-neck front, scoop back neckline, and four layers of flounces attached to foundation tiers complete the garment.
The skirt has back waist darts, raised waistline, and up to three flounces. The simple-sew fabric rose accessory can be attached to the dress or worn in the hair.
*** I received a note from a great lady who knows flamenco and said the design is a bata de cola dress (short at the front, long in the back) and is used for a specific dance. The dresses are nearly impossible to find ready made and very expensive to get one made. *** This is a fabulous pattern to make your own and save a lot of money.
Suggested fabrics: Fabrics with body and slight stiffness, such as silk douppioni, taffeta, faille. Lightweight, drapery fabrics such as crepe de chine can also be used, but flounces and tiers should be lightly interfaced.
